Pastor Parish Relations Committee

This committee is the administrative unit in the local church where staff and congregational interests are integrated to focus on the mission of the church.  Their primary responsibility is to work with staff so that the mission of the church is realized.  Specific tasks include:

      ·        conferring with the pastor/staff & the congregation about ministry direction

·        evaluating the ministry of the congregation & pastor/staff at least annually

·        conferring & consulting with the district superintendent

·        supporting lifelong learning for staff (continuing education)

·        being available to the congregation & pastor/staff for questions or concerns relating to our church’s ministry

·        identifying & supporting individuals from the congregation whom God seems to be calling for ordained ministry.

Additional responsibilities include making sure that appropriate groups conduct background checks for volunteer staff as stated in the Safe Sanctuary Policy.

The Committee consists of 9 members who each serve a three year term. The Lay Member to Annual Conference and the Lay Leader also serve.  The committee is required to meet at least quarterly and cannot meet without the knowledge of the pastor or the district superintendent. It meets in closed session and all information shared in the committee is confidential.
